Here we go again. Hollywood be on some dumb shit! What’s with their obsession with remaking movies considered classics? We’re talking about movies that have stood the test of time for generations.
They are out here trying to remake iconic flicks like they have a whole new vision, but most of them are straight garbage.
A lot of these movies are cultural milestones, shaping’ the game and leaving a mark on moviegoers. We’re talkin’ about films that stay in our hearts, that make us feel some type of way. So why they gotta mess with our emotions by putting out these subpar remakes? It’s fucked up to me.
Take a look at “The Color Purple.” That joint was a masterpiece, touchin’ souls and droppin’ knowledge back in ’85. Now, imagine wakin’ up one mornin’ to find out they wanna do a remake. That ain’t justice, that’s a slap in the face. They better leave that joint untouched, ’cause if they mess with Celie, Mister, and the whole crew, it’s gonna be a problem.
But “The Color Purple” ain’t the only victim of this remake bullshit. They fucking with other classics too. I’m talkin’ “Scarface,” “Casablanca,” and even “The Godfather.” Like, come on, Hollywood, can’t you find some original ideas? It’s like they runnin’ out of steam, tryna milk the success of the past instead of creatin’ somethin’ new and fresh.
As African Americans, we got our own vibe, and our own stories to tell. So why they gotta take our culture and slap it on a classic movie like it’s gonna make it better? That ain’t the move. We want original stories that reflect our reality, not some watered-down version of a classic.
Now, I ain’t tryna cancel nobody in Hollywood. But if they gonna keep remaking movies, they better come correct. Don’t be fucking with our childhood memories, our cultural touchstones. If you can’t bring somethin’ better to the table, just leave it be.
Hollywood, listen up. We ain’t playin’ with you. We want originality, creativity, and respect for the classics. So step up your game, or we’ll be calling you out on your weak ass remakes. Let the classics be, let ’em shine in all their glory.
